FeatureTHE ART OF UNISEX: Challenging gender in fashion
FashionZadig & Voltaire take centre stage at NYFW
French fashion favourite and St Collins Lane flagship, Zadig and Voltaire has debuted its AW17/18 collection at NYFW, led by international supermodel, Bella Hadid, and her brother Anwar.
Renowned for its nonchalant, natural style, Voltaire went back to its roots, focusing on four themes that epitomise the brand after twenty years in fashion: knits, military looks, wearable lingerie and bold men’s suits.
This season features graphic-inspired pieces that highlight bold colours, and looks that exude vibes of the Paris/New York underground rock scene, evident in every stitch. Layering radiant polka-dot tulle atop leather trousers or jeans, the brand’s ability to juxtapose loud textures with wardrobe basics is palpable.
Front row seats were filled with fashion elite like Erin Wasson and Chloe Norgaard, watching closely as each unique piece graced the catwalk. Zadig and Voltaire’s creative director Cecilia Bönström explains the reasoning behind mixing masculine silhouettes in with her womenswear looks on the catwalk;
“the glamour of contrasts that ultimately complement one another, that is what our brand is all about.”
