A monochrome affair, Derby Day is one of the stand-out events on Melbourne’s racing calendar and is considered the most glamourous of the spring racing dress codes. While it is not an official rule, the black and white tradition dates back to the 1960’s and is strongly encouraged by the Victorian Racing Club.

Respecting traditions does not  mean you cannot modernise Derby Day. Race-day goers can be seen in either tone, but do not mistake the lack of colour for lacklustre styling as Derby Day is no time to be a shrinking violet.
